Masters of Science (Sports Science)

The Masters of Science (Sports Science) course provides an opportunity for advanced level study and research in a specific area of Sports Science. It is a two year postgraduate program designed to build on a three year undergraduate degree in Sports Science.

Students are expected to apply a range of research methodologies to investigate specific research questions applicable to an area of study in Sports Science.

Entrance Requirements

To enter the course students must have successfully completed a Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science) degree or a program of study which contains substantially similar components at an appropriate level. Students who have completed a Bachelor of Science Honours (Exercise and Sports Science) or equivalent in a relevant field may enter directly into Stage 2 of the Masters program.

Course Location

The course is offered on Joondalup campus. Students may elect to study in either the full-time or part-time mode.

Course Structure

The Masters of Science (Sports Science) program comprises two years of full-time study or the equivalent part-time study. Three units of study are undertaken in Stage 1. Stage 2 is devoted to the development of a research thesis under the guidance of a Supervisor.

Stage 1

Students may undertake a course of study in one of four streams: Physiology of Exercise; Psychology of Athletic Coaching and Fitness Leadership, Biomechanics or Motor Control.

YEAR ONE—Stage 1
Semester 1
